A Technical & Visual Designer From Burnley

An experienced and approachable professional who takes my work seriously without taking myself too serious. With over six years of experience in both design and technical roles. I’ve developed a keen eye for detail and a creative approach to problem solving.

In my free time, I enjoy photography and editing images, and occasionally gaming, although I don’t find as much time for that these days! I enjoy working in an environment with people who are like minded, down to earth and driven. Outside of work, I’m either watching either Burnley FC, a good thriller, or spending time with friends and family.

Solving technical challenges with accuracy and efficiency

My focus is on creating precise designs that are meet expectations for both form and function. I’m proficient at creating detailed technical drawings, bills of materials, streamlining processes and ensuring projects run smoothly from the client proposal stage to the final install.

Using tools such as SketchUp Layout, AutoCAD, Excel, and Exact I get my work done right. I have experience creating visuals to support sales, helping to bring ideas to life for clients. Whether it’s managing deadlines, solving problems, or ensuring costs kept are on track, I aim to deliver high quality designs that inspire clients whilst also functioning in the real world.

Recent Projects

At ESP Play, one of my key responsibilities was to review all available information and create detailed plans for the installation of play equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and adherence to European Safety Standard BS EN 1176. In this instance, I noticed an oversight in the contract manager’s survey, which missed a fenced area and an existing mound that could impact the installation. Although these details were overlooked initially, I identified and updated the plans, ensuring the installation could proceed without issues while maintaining safety standards.

This example highlights my attention to detail and ability to anticipate and address potential challenges, maintaining both project continuity and adherence to rigorous safety standards.

Project Oversight and Safety Compliance: Rectifying Survey Oversights

In this project, the original survey missed key perimeter measurements. After the contract manager conducted an additional survey, I provided the missing details to ensure accurate planning. We initially planned picket fencing, but the client wanted to hide the existing brick wall. We designed a sleeper retaining wall that blends naturally with the environment.

The project featured a simple foundation with green and black wetpour, artificial grass separated by a block edge, and a bespoke floral canopy. This showcases my ability to adapt designs to client needs while ensuring safety and aesthetics.

Adaptive Design And Client Led Workflow

Imperial Garden

For this project at an SEN school in Oxford, I was responsible for creating a colorful and engaging design that balanced aesthetics with functionality. This was a quick turn around but highly rewarding job. A key part of the brief was to design a fully functional two-way ramp suitable for wheelchair users while maintaining its play value. I carefully considered technical requirements, such as ramp gradient, height, and length, ensuring full accessibility and compliance with safety standards.

This project demonstrates my ability to combine technical precision with creative visual design, delivering inclusive and practical solutions tailored to specific needs.
